Russian Men Kill Woman & Cook Her with Potatoes

This is one of the most deprived crimes I have ever read about:

THE trial of two Russian men accused of chopping up a 16-year-old girl and eating her with potatoes has been postponed after a juror fell ill looking at prosecution images.

The case was postponed after the juror had to be excused while examining photographs of student Karina Barduchian after her death, the Daily Mail reports.

Maxim Golovatskikh and his friend florist Yury Mozhnov, both 20, are accused of drowning Karina Barduchian in a bath and then carving up her body and serving her meat with potatoes to a lodger.  [Daily Mail]

Baby Selling Crime Ring Busted In Malaysia

Having spent time in Malaysia and being good friends with a Malaysian family I find it surprising to see such a criminal operation like this going on there:

KUALA LUMPUR: They “hired” women and made them sleep with men. Nine months later, they would “harvest” the babies born and sell them to childless couples.

And if this was not heinous enough, they would then tell the new mothers that their babies were not “beautiful enough” and cut down the amount of money originally promised to them.

Behind this “baby factory” is a 50-year-old woman from Banting, known as “Auntie”.

She roped in her husband, cousins and other relatives, making the babies-for-sale syndicate a family business that had been operating for more than five years.

Police managed to bust the syndicate with the arrest of 15 people, nine of whom were members of “Auntie’s” family. Two women who had been “hired” were also arrested.

Police rescued five babies — two girls and three boys aged betwen two weeks and nine months — who were about to be sold off.   [The Star Online]

Just goes to show that depraved criminals can be found anywhere.

Man Kills Partner for Not Allowing Use of the Toilet

No matter the rationale for the killing this guy should have just moved out if this woman is as crazy as depicted:

A MAN accused of murdering his de facto wife told a court she
verbally abused him, controlled their finances and would not let him
use their home toilet.

Anthony Sherna told a Supreme Court jury his de facto partner Susanne Wild cut him off from contact with friends and family, was “unpredictable” and would constantly put him down.

“She just used to call me a weak little bastard,” he said.

The
jury has heard Mr Sherna strangled Ms Wild with a dressing gown cord in
February last year after she woke his dog and then buried her body in
their back yard in Melbourne’s southwest.

He has pleaded not guilty to her murder.  [AAP]

Number of Australians Arrested Abroad Expected to Top 1000 This Year

I like watching the show Locked Up Abroad on National Geographic and maybe some of these Australians getting in trouble should watch it to before traveling overseas:

THE number of Australians arrested overseas is expected to surpass 1000 this year, say experts.

Australians can expect no special treatment for misdemeanours committed abroad, as Melbourne mother Annice Smoel found out this week.

The recent arrest of Melbourne’s Annice Smoel, accused of stealing a
$60 bar mat from the Aussie Bar in Phuket, has reignited debate about
Australians behaving badly abroad, reports The Advertiser.

While Mrs Smoel has walked free, her brush with Thai law has
highlighted the danger of being ignorant to the laws and customs of
foreign countries.

Latest figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs
and Trade show that in 2008-2009, 970 Australians were arrested abroad
– 507 are serving time in foreign prisons and so far this year, there
have already been 790 arrests.

It is predicted that for the first time, the number of Australians arrested overseas will surpass 1000 this year.  [The Advertiser]

Adelaide Wife Kills Husband By Setting Fire to His Genitals

I don’t know what it is, but strange murders seem to happen in Adelaide:

A MAN whose wife allegedly set fire to his genitals while he slept has died.

Satish Narayan, 47, an engineer, lost his battle to survive at the Royal Adelaide Hospital yesterday, 20 days after sustaining burns to most of his body.

The incident has now been declared a major crime by police and it is likely his wife, Rajini, will face a charge of manslaughter or murder.

Police have alleged Mr Narayan’s wife doused his genitals with methylated spirit and then set him on fire about 5.30am on December 7.

Mrs Narayan had been charged with causing serious harm to her husband, arson and endangering her children.  [Sunday Mail]

For those that don’t know many infamous murder cases have happened in Adelaide which have earned the city the distinction of being dubbed “Australia’s City of Corpses“.

Australian Arrested for Mummy Smuggling in Egypt

I wonder if he will use the Schapelle Corby defense, the baggage handlers did it!:

AN Australian teacher has reportedly been arrested after allegedly attempting to leave Cairo with 2000-year-old Egyptian artefacts.

The 61 year old was arrested at Cario International Airport, Associated Press has reported.

The man’s name is yet to be released.

He was allegedly found with mummies and religious figurines stuffed in his luggage, an Egyptian airport security official said.

The official said the mummy of a cat and an ibis, as well as 19 votive figurines of the ancient Egyptian gods Horus and Thoth had been wrapped as gifts, the official said today.

An antiquity official at the airport said one of the pieces dated back to 300BC.

Horus was the ancient Egyptian god of the sky, while Thoth was the god of writing.

Egypt imposes severe penalties on people caught smuggling its artefacts.  [News.com]

Victorian Teenage Skinhead Killed By Police

What a senseless tragedy:

HE was all goofy smile and daggy hair, the cheeky kid with the two thumbs up and an air of mischief.

Somewhere between the retro sweater and a new skinhead crop, Tyler Cassidy turned from the “gentle” boy in his family photo to a rum-drinking, card-carrying white supremacist.

By the time he faced off with police in a Melbourne skate park on Thursday night he was an angry “Southern Cross Soldier”, known for his temper and random acts of violence.

He dared police to kill him before he killed them, The Daily Telegraph reports.

Within just four months of falling in with neo-Nazis and criminals, Tyler was dead. At only 15.

He was shot and killed when three police officers opened fire after Tyler threatened to kill them with two knives he had earlier stolen from Kmart.  [Daily Telegraph]

Read the rest of the article but this kid was obviously troubled and it is hard to say if the police should have shot him or not.  I would not be surprised if this kid was high on drugs when he attacked the police officers with the knife.

Anyway I do have to say out of all my time in Melbourne I have yet to see a Nazi skinhead.  As this story shows they are out there but I don’t think these guys are a widespread problem.

Operation Santiago Unveiled to Combat Melbourne Gang Violence

Great just what Melbourne needs more gang warfare:

SEVEN men have been killed in suspected drug-linked executions in Victoria in 10 months – in a new outbreak of underworld mayhem.

And police are so alarmed by the flow of firearms into the city and a spate of non-fatal shootings they are planning targeted roadblocks to catch gun-carrying gang members.

Operation Santiago, a new taskforce devoted to the shooting war between alleged family based amphetamine syndicates, is also being bolstered.

A Sunday Herald Sun investigation into the new-look crime landscape can reveal:

THE Purana taskforce, having investigated Carl Williams’ killings, is probing current crime kingpins.

CHIEF Commissioner Christine Nixon believes 21st century organised crime will be the greatest challenge for her successor at the helm of Victoria Police.

SENIOR police have been concerned by escalating shoot-outs between ethnic gangsters in the northern suburbs and are amazed no one has been killed in the crossfire.

Most of the seven suburban slayings, which occurred between February and last month, have been discovered in or near metropolitan parks and reserves.

Two were parkland “slash and burns” – suspected of being related to drug deals.

A third victim is believed to have had his throat cut in a Noble Park reserve before being rolled into a nearby creek.

Three others were shot dead and the seventh was bashed to death and dumped in a field.

All except two of the victims were aged under 35, all the killings had drug or criminal links and no one has been charged over three of the cases.

It is a comparative kill rate to the height of the Carlton crew-Williams crew gangland war where in 2003 when eight underworld-linked figures were executed. [Herald-Sun]

This recent violence is similar to the violence that plagued the city when I first moved to the Melbourne area.  That was when the Carlton crew led by Carl Williams stoked an underworld criminal war that led to the deaths of many people.  The controversial made for TV program, Underbelly dramatizes these gangland events and just recently won an AFI award.

I guess it was only a matter of time before someone tried to step and fill the criminal vacuum left after a number of these criminal figures were either killed or put into jail.

Son Plays Sport After Raping Mother

This is pretty hideous:

A MAN had sex with his wheelchair-bound mother because no other women wanted him, a court has been told.

The 26-year-old man asked his mother “why don’t women want me” as they watched a movie at their Darwin home in September this year, the Northern Territory Supreme Court was told.
The man, who moved from Western Australia to Darwin last year, allegedly told his mother: “I can’t get no women here,” the Northern Territory News reported.

Prosecutor Paul Usher said the mother reassured him: “You’ll find the right one”.
But Mr Usher said the son pulled the mother’s “knickers down with one hand” and took a condom out of his wallet, and had sex with his mother on the futon she had been lying on.
Mr Usher said the son had sex again with his mother later, and afterwards she managed to get into her wheelchair to get to her bedroom.  [The Northern Territory News]

The mother would later contact authorities who arrested the son.  Incredibly this was the son said he was doing to make amends for what happened:

She said he felt “incredibly ashamed” about what had happened and had been “reading the Bible and doing as much sport as he can”.

Leave it to this guy to think that playing sport will make his mother feel any better about being raped.  What a loser.
