Corey Delaney’s Parents: Show Me the Money!

Here is a Corey Delaney Worthington update for everyone.  Remember him the sixteen year old kid who threw the huge party in Melbourne while his parents were holidaying in the Gold Coast?  Well A Current Affair (ACA) has another interview with Corey and this one went a lot better than his last interview with them:

Also remember how his parents were originally upset at him for the party?  Well I guess now the parents have realized that Corey’s fifteen minutes of fame is quickly passing and they better cash in on his notoriety as soon as possible:

TWO weeks ago, Corey Delaney’s parents wanted to throttle their teenage son for throwing an out-of-control party while they were holidaying on the Gold Coast.

Now the couple – at least according to agent Max Markson – are fully behind a push to cash in on the 16-year-old’s notoriety and are happy to see their son turned into a money-spinning celebrity dance party promoter.

"I had a good meeting with his parents," Markson Sparks director Max Markson said yesterday as the PR guru launched the apprentice carpenter’s spin machine with a special appearance on the Nine Network’s A Current Affair.

Corey’s parents were furious at their son for hosting the home-alone party that drew a 500-strong crowd – not including the police helicopter unit and the dog squad.

So was the Nine Network current affairs program, which led the charge to demonise the teenager.

Markson has worked wonders on both, and the Sydney spin king is predicting the teenager, whose actual surname is Worthington, will pull in up to $100,000 over the next 12 months promoting parties and even appearing in television commercials.

Mr Markson said Corey had the potential to reach beyond his ambition of becoming a carpenter. "He’s a carpenter, or that’s what he wants to do," Mr Markson said. "So if he can earn $50,000 or $100,000 in the next 12 months, it’s a lot more than he’d earn as an apprentice learning his trade there.

"He’s proved he can do a party – but it was the right party in the wrong place. [The Australian]

I really can’t blame the parents for wanting their son to cash in while he has the opportunity.  Parents of teenage athletes who want to turn professional face the same problem.  It just so happens he is not a tennis or basketball talent, but a party promoter.  I think the big thing is to make sure he keeps going to school and completes his high school education while pursuing this career so he has something to fall back on if it doesn’t work out.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

The Corey Delaney Backlash Begins

It looks like the Melbourne party teen’s fifteen minutes of fame may be getting extended a little while longer:

THE Corey Delaney phenomenon is gathering momentum with the Melbourne party boy’s antics generating huge media attention across the world.

The media madness began early for the sudden anti-hero, who has been trailed by cameras from channels Seven, Nine, Ten, the ABC and Sky News since details of his wild party, in which he entertained more than 500 "friends" invited through MySpace, made world headlines earlier this week.

The 16-year-old is already the most viewed story on the BBC and CNN news websites, and internet entrepreneurs are also jumping on the Corey bandwagon.

Other developments in this story cannot be reported for legal reasons.  Corey is also known by his birth name, Corey Worthington.  [News.com]

If you can believe Channel 10 is trying to work out a deal with him to co-host Big Brother.  Does anyone even watch Big Brother anymore?

Not everyone is pleased with the teenager’s antics though:

A website dedicated to the teenage party planner has appeared on the internet, with Corey’s now-infamous yellow sunglasses the site’s main focus. The website shows hacked photos of Hollywood stars wearing Corey’s shades.

Elsewhere, another website allows internet users to "slap some sense into Corey". [News.com]

This thing will eventually play out and I suspect by this time next year no one is even going to remember who Corey Delaney is.

Corey Delaney Arrested & Banned from Wikipedia

Melbourne’s own male Paris Hilton has now finally been arrested over his party activities:

A YOUTH has been arrested over a party in Melbourne which turned into a mini-riot.

While the 16-year-old has eluded his parents, since they returned from a Gold Coast holiday yesterday to deal with the fallout from the party, he could not avoid police scrutiny.

The young man – who has turned into an international cult figure for organising the house party that attracted hundreds of partygoers – was question today by police at the Narre Warren police station in suburban Melbourne.

The teenager has apologised for the turmoil his party caused neighbours and police – including extensive damage to patrol cars from flying bottles – but has refused to accept responsibility for what happened after the party was brought to an end about midnight on Saturday by officers responding to noise complaints.

He has since made news around the world for organising the party, and has been fielding offers from party promoters interstate.

The teenager appeared in FM radio in Melbourne this morning – reportedly for a fee – but ran from the studio when announcers tried to remove his signature plastic yellow sunglasses.  [The Australian]

I bet the police had a blast taking his glasses off him today.  Wonder how long before his mug shots are leaked on the internet?  This guy I think brought this arrest on himself with his shameless self promotion and lack of accepting responsibility for what happened.  He was pretty much just daring the police to arrest them which they did.

In other Corey Delaney news another battle erupted over his activities, this time on Wikipedia:

MELBOURNE teenager and infamous "party boy" Corey Delaney has managed to ruffle a new set of feathers without even lifting a finger.

A heated debate among the contributors of Wikipedia took place this morning over whether or not the 16-year-old wild child deserved his own entry on the website.

"He’s a d***head kid. We don’t write articles about every d***head kid, even the ones who have been on ACA (A Current Affair)," wrote one user, who voted that the entry be deleted.

Corey was today arrested after a party he threw while his parents were on holiday spun out of control and resulted in damage to cars and neighbouring houses.  [News.com]

I think this is a sign that his 15 minutes of fame is coming ever more closer.

Corey Delaney Missing, But Offered Party Gig

The MySpace party boy Corey Delaney (or Corey Wortington according to the TV news) who through the alcohol fueled party that led him to become an overnight celebrity in Australia is now apparently gone missing after his parents returned home from their Queensland holiday and did not find him at their home.  I would not worry to much about Corey because he may just be interviewing for a new job:

Party boy Corey, 16, has been offered the chance of making up to $20,000 as a promoter after his wild and boozy party grabbed the attention of global media.

He has so far refused to return home to face the wrath of his parents, and instead is planning another party to be held somewhere in Narre Warren in two weeks’ time.

"Yeah, it’s been pretty fun," he told Channel Nine.

"I’m having another big pary in two weeks."

"I don’t really want to (go home), I’m going out with my mates and stuff, and don’t want to go home.

The teen enraged his parents and police after notching up a $20,000 riot bill from his bash, and has since gone to ground.  [Herald-Sun]

With the increased fame he is getting, he will be able to pay off his $20,000 bill in no time and is probably the least of his worries at this point.  If you want Corey Delaney to throw a party for you guess what, he has his own party planner website.  Here are his prices:

Prices:

$200: For two hundred bucks I’ll get a bag of chips, some cruisers and maybe a strippa. It’ll be awesome. Everyone says so.

$500: For five hundred bucks I’ll get a six bags of chips, a group of sixteen year old girls who are really easy (my mate reckons he’s banged like five of them) heaps of cruisers and UDL’s coz they’re awesome and a TV Rock album because they make the party GO OFF.

$1000: For $1000 I’ll get all of the above, plus fireworks so that the police will be called and you might make the news.

$20,000: For $20,000 I’ll make you internationally famous by getting 500 idiots to attack police cars. Of course, you will have to pay $20,000 to clean up the mess but shit happens and it’s not my fault.

It looks like Australia has their very own male Paris Hilton.

Reactions to Corey Delaney’s Party Mixed

Yesterday Melbourne’s very own male Paris Hilton’s interview on A Current Affair over his alcohol fueled party drew mixed reader reaction here at the Daily Boomerang.  Likewise reactions across the media spectrum here in Australia has been mixed as well.

Here is a good example of these mixed reactions on Melbourne talk radio:

Here is a reaction from a Australian teenager on YouTube who feels that people need to remember Corey is only being a teenager:

Here is a Sky News report advocating that the teenager should pay $20,000 in damages:

Here is a ITN report that shows Corey Delaney is quite proud of what he did:

You can view some reactions in the blogosphere as well below:

Reactions may be mixed but one thing is for sure this kid is definitely getting his 15 minutes of fame.

Melbourne Party Teen on A Current Affair

Due to popular demand I have found a video of the sixteen year old Melbourne teenager Corey Delaney’s interview on the quasi-news program A Current Affair over his alcohol fueled party this past weekend:

I have to wonder how A Current Affair got permission to film a 16 year old on TV?  I doubt their parents would let their son on TV like this.  Also the condescending tone of A Current Affair host Leila McKinnon as if she was the boy’s mom I found annoying as well.  With that said though you can’t help but laugh at this interview though because it was hilarious.  I guess this what happens when you have a punk teenager on a tabloid news show, hilarity ensues. Everyone in that interview looked foolish when all is said and done.

I guess young Corey is going to see how hilarious this all is when his parents get home today, though judging by his attitude I am willing to bet he could care less.
