Here are a few pictures of the most recent snow storm to hit El Paso, Texas this year. This first picture is from the west side of El Paso looking at the Franklin Mountains.
I took a drive than up to the top of Trans-mountain Road that connects west El Paso with East El Paso and took a few more pictures of the cloud covered mountains:
From the picnic area on the top of Trans-Mountain Road the clouds had parted enough to where I could see west El Paso nestled at the bottom of the range:
The snow up in the Franklins was not as much as we had from the snow storm earlier in the month, but it did leave enough for people to at least make a snowman:
Yesterday on Christmas Eve I took yet another drive up Trans-Mountain Road since the storm had passed and the clouds were gone. I was able to take this spectacular landscape picture of one of this valley that leads to the summit of South Franklin Mountain:
The snow unfortunately did not stick on the lower elevation down in El Paso like the prior storm, but at least we got sort of a white Christmas this year with the Franklin Mountains right outside my window continuing to be cloaked in snow.
This is called getting into the holiday spirit in Australia:
A SYDNEY police officer has Tasered a man during a Christmas carols event after being punched in the face and surrounded by an angry crowd. Patrolling officers were required to assist when a number of altercations broke out at a Carols by Candlelight function at Five Dock, attended by about 4000 people last night.
“About 10pm, further police were called to the venue due to the swelling crowd and reports that a teenage girl had been assaulted,” police said.
It is believed the incident led to a number of men attending the venue, two of whom allegedly became aggressive toward others in the crowd and were approached by a sergeant, police say.
“One of them allegedly turned on the officer, punching him in the face,” police said.
“The policeman, who at this stage was surrounded by the volatile crowd, Tasered the man, bringing him under control and diffusing the situation.” [AAP]
Tis the season to be jolly especially for Qantas employees:
A GROUP of Santas has stopped traffic in Melbourne.
Police intercepted a car carrying the yuletide revellers at about 9.30pm in Carlton on Friday night and vowed to take action against the driver.
Up to 400 people attended a Santa-themed pub crawl including a large contingent of Qantas workers, the Herald Sun reported.
A flight attendant on the booze-up, who asked not to be named, said Qantas workers from Perth, Sydney and Brisbane flew into town for the annual soiree which has been running 14 years.
She branded the officers who stopped the bar hopping group at the corner of Elgin and Lygon Streets “fun police”.
“The car was going at about 5km/hr, it’s not as if we were going to hurt anyone,” she said. [Herald-Sun]
